September 19, 2023 - 6:30 pm EDT- "The Easiest Thing" Tuesday Evenings with with Don Oakley on Zoom
Don Oakley, Director, Well Being Retreat Center

Don Oakley will be speaking online Tuesday evening September 19th at 6:30 pm EDT. These talks will be extemporaneous presentations with a brief guided meditation to begin and time for Q&A. All sessions are non-denominational, are experientially based, and are structured to direct attention to our Essential Nature. Registration not required. October 13 - 15, 2023 "Awakening to Your True Self" - a Weekend Retreat with Don Oakley & Patty Bottari

A Weekend Retreat of Contemplation & Meditation. Don & Patty will lead a weekend retreat from Friday supper through Sunday lunch. Well Being will provide Friday Supper upon arrival and Sunday lunch and will provide coffee, teas and snacks throughout. You will be on your own for the other meals. All the Cabins have kitchenettes. Frankie Hart is a Yoga Teacher with over 10,000 hours of teaching experience.  She has owned and operated Satya Life Yoga in Lakeland, Florida since 2004. Frankie leads Yoga Teacher Training certification programs yearly. She has been teaching the art of movement and healing for over thirty years. Her credentials include ERYT500, YACEP, RPYT, MFA, Master Level certified Qigong Instructor and Certified Lifeline Practitioner. More information on this 3-night retreat HERE

Leslie Rawls (Chan Giac Xu) is a Dharma teacher in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, who has been her teacher for nearly 30 years. In 1995, Thich Nhat Hanh ordained Leslie into the Order of Interbeing. In 2009, he transmitted the Dharma Lamp to her, authorizing her to teach as a Dharmacharya.

This silent retreat will offer sitting meditation, walking meditation on the beautiful Well Being grounds, mindful movement, deep relaxation, singing meditation, silent vegetarian meals, Dharma talks by Leslie, Dharma sharing in small groups, practice interviews, and plenty of free time for personal practice.

February 16-18, 2024  UTC College of Nursing Writing Retreat with Dr. Tammy Wyatt                 

The Office of Research and Scholarship hosts writing retreats for interested faculty members. In this spirit, the UTK College of Nursing will be hosting a writing retreat at the Well Being Retreat Center. During the weekend, faculty members can find quiet time for writing, while also having the chance to collaborate with their colleagues. This retreat is open only to the faculty of the College of Nursing.  More in formation to follow.

April 3, 2024 - April 7, 2024  Four Night Silent Retreat with Upasaka Upali (Paul Peterson)

This four-night meditation retreat will serve as a platform to support your practice, wherever it’s at, and aims to provide a space where it can deepen and flourish.  It will be filled with extended periods of meditation, personal one on one interviews, evening teachings, nourishing food, and natural surroundings. Upali’s formal training comes from a Shamatha-Vipassana background as expounded upon in The Mind Illuminated, but he teaches with a student-centric approach, aiming to uplift the experience and values each student brings to their own practice. This immersion is for Nature and Forest Therapy Guides-in-Training through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.  An immersion is an opportunity to be guided by ANFT trainers and to practice guiding with others. Those who have completed at least four months of the six-month remote Forest Therapy Guide Training are eligible to apply.  Completion of this Immersion and the six-month Guide Training fulfills ANFT requirements for full Guide Certification. Jim Newman has given talks on non-dualism internationally. This in-person, residential, four-day program will be a unique opportunity to inquire deeply. Meetings will have no agenda, list of topics or specific structure. Space is open for questions and discussion with Jim.

 

In the meetings, there will be an uncovering, revealing, pointing to the reality, that that experience of separation, that experience that I'm real, that there's something wrong and that I need to do something about it, is illusory. Join Christine Hoyer for a 3-night retreat to be in and be with nature.  We are part of nature and it is important to take the time to renew, recharge, and reconnect with nature and ourselves.  The weekend will include guided nature and forest therapy walks, simple mindful movement from the Tai Chi tradition, and other activities designed to connect you with the natural world directly through your senses.  This retreat will be mostly silent to allow for nature’s voice to be heard.  There will be times for sharing, guided activities, and time to explore the land.
