About Well Being Retreat Center
Big View of Tiny Houses.jpg

Well Being Retreat Center is an independent, non-denominational 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers and hosts programs in the areas of meditation, non-dual spirituality, wellness, energy modalities, nature awareness and movement. We promote the connection between healthy soil, organic gardening and wholesome (and delicious) meals. We enjoy the silence of our rural Tennessee setting surrounded by 2 1/2 miles of frontage on the scenic Powell River. Nature abounds here. We value our relationship with the local community and enjoy meaningful relations with the Claiborne County Tourism Commission, the Nature Conservancy, Tennessee Wildlife resources Agency and our neighbors. Well Being Retreat Center initiated and continues to sponsor the County's Annual Powell River Kayak & Canoe Regatta and the Powell River Blueway Trail..

Our Intentions are stated HERE.

Pandemic Considerations

COVID Era Considerations: We decided early on during this ongoing pandemic to continue to provide a venue for in-person retreats and to do so with a very high degree of safety. We were in a unique position to do so. We have 11 cabins (to allow individual or couple occupancy) and an open-air Pavilion on the Powell River (to allow plenty of air circulation and spaced seating). We are not using the main Conference Building during the pandemic out of concern about shared indoor air.

The Pavilion has been outfitted with wrap-around electric blankets for all. We have been able to continue to hold retreats during colder months. The Pavilion also has a commercial kitchen to serve meals outdoors at oversized picnic tables to allow 6-foot separation and still be able to converse.

Cabins are treated with virus-killing ozone after each use and remain vacant for a minimum of three days in addition to our normal thorough cleaning. (Ozone is a gas that requires a two hour treatment in an empty cabin and then 8 hours to allow the ozone to change to oxygen.) Detailed COVID policies are HERE.

Well Being Retreat Center is located 1 1/4 hour north of Knoxville. The nearest town, Tazewell, which is 20 minutes away, can provide food, gas, banking, and building materials but lacks places to socialize. In other words, the Service Manager would need to be content to live in nature, meet many interesting people who come to programs here, but not require an active in-town social scene.

The Service Manager would be provided with an on-site 2-bedroom, 1,200 square foot house (pictured)

On-site recreation choices include kayaking on the Powell River, the second largest un-dammed river in Tennessee; swimming in the 25 yard, infinity edge pool, hiking the 160 acre site, observing Nature, walking the Labyrinth, star-gazing from the hilltop and enjoying the silence here which is virtually absent of manmade sounds.

There are 11 Cabins and 6 Cabinettes with a bed capacity of 39 (during the pandemic the bed capacity is reduced to 14 - 24 depending on the number of couples and consenting cabin mates). All the Cabins have kitchenettes and full baths.

Our Main Conference Building with a Meeting Room, Dining Room and large commercial kitchen is not currently being used due to the pandemic. Map of the Retreat Center.

We have a Library, a large Labyrinth, a Fire Circle, a one acre organic vegetable garden and fruit orchard, and a 25 yard lap pool. We are a licensed riverfront campground with full climate controlled bathrooms bathrooms nearby.
